design experimentation
To learn design, I had 3 goals-- develop traditional rapid ideation skills, practice design research, and expand the scale of my problem-solving ability. The below projects demonstrate these efforts.
Airplanes have always been one of my passions. I practiced modeling and sketching by focusing on these forms with which I am very familiar.
I pursued several independent studies with various role models I met through UC. Below is work I did in theoretical packaging and 3D printing form development.
This board shows ideation related to skeletal structures, self-nesting forms, flexible linkages, and experimental 3D printing modes.
A bottle lid form with a unique hinging mechanism that opens only when rotated and binds when lifted.
A solid structure print designed to compress and twist as a potential packaging technology.
